Welcome to Divorce Month

January 8, 2020

Did you know that January is the most popular month for divorce?!?

Does that surprise you?  It doesn’t surprise me.

I’ve spoken with many people towards the end of the year and they want to file for divorce but want to get through “one last holiday.”  Particularly when children are involved, they want one last “normal” holiday for everyone.

I can understand that.  Divorce affects not only the couple but probably has more of an effect on the children.  But it also affects extended family and friends.  So it’s not a decision people make lightly, and it can be even more difficult to go through the holidays while a divorce is pending.

But once that clock strikes 12:01 am on January 1st, those same people are ready to start this new year on a new foot.  Are you one of those people?

Do you know the 3 steps you must take immediately after deciding to get divorced, and before you tell your spouse?
